Crossing China from Kyrgyz to Laos, October 2017
Hi all,
we are looking for companion China travellers (all kind of vehicles welcome) in order to share costs of the obligatory guide in China.
The plan? Enter China from Kyrgyz, leaving to Laos. Including Tibet.
When? October 2017
Route? Not yet definite. Parameters are: Taklamakan Desert, western part of Great Wall (Jiayuguan), Golmud, Lhasa, Dali.
A rough suggestion can be found here: https://goo.gl/maps/SKSnmJ24kjx
Duration? 30 days (max. use of visa, slow travel preferred)
Who we are? - a couple in their 30s, driving with their Mercedes/Puch G from Europe to Australia
If you have similar plans, we are looking forward to hear from you.
Astrid & Christian

Hey G-Trotter
Sounds like an interesting plan.
I plan to go to Laos around the same time, but was affraid of the costs for a guide from Kyrgyz to Laos (and didn't find to many companies offering something like this), that's why I plan right now to go from Mongolia down to Laos, also around Oktober.
But I'd be open to chang my plans, which would leave me with a lot less stress in Russia
Since I'm a bit tight on budget, do you already have a idea on how much it will cost?

Hi ALoneRider,
sorry for the late response.
We are currently in contact with companies but don’t have a concrete offer for this route yet. The costs depend on how many vehicles join and the period of the transit. Also, if we include Tibet or not, since there will be extra costs.
What kind of vehicle are you travelling with?
Maybe you really want to reconsider your route and join us going through China from Kyrgyz to Laos, definitely worth visiting :-)
Let’s stay in touch.
Cheers,
A&C

Hi G-Trotter
If you miss out Tibet will save you a big amount of money?
And my other concur is that other people who may join your group who will be riding a motorbike may have problems due to bad roads conditions (icy on roads Late October-November ) with the planned route at this time of year you are proposing your trip through Chine/Tibet.
Also, you must consider that if you mix cars and Motorbikes together on the trip you will find in some parts of China the only safe way to travel between towns/cities will be by the Expressways (Toll Roads) to which you will find out in some cases Motorbikes are Banned.
Just a few pointer.
Good luck with your trip.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
