hola viajeros cubanos,

today I bribed my way thru the airport of Caracas and I hope my old Tenere will fly on Friday to Havanna.

I will need somebody to help me to get it out of the airport on Monday.

Hasta pronto

Check out Greg Fraziers webpage http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/gregfrazier/

He made some contacts in Cuba, but it is difficult to contact anyone.

If you do meet people that are interested in motorcycle travel, or just welcoming motorcycle visitors, be sure to send them to us, and the Community page in particular. There is even a Spanish version to explain it all if they have trouble.

Hopefully that will make it easier for the next travellers.

Thanks Mika! Have fun, and hope you get it sorted alright. You've had lots of experience, I'm sure you'll do fine!

hi,

me again. ok I spend ten days in cuba on the bike - I did not like cuba (more about that later for the ezine ...)

getting the bike into the airplane in Caracas was difficult and I would not recommend doing it, it was illegal and I bribed the cargo guys in the wharehouse.

getting the bike out in Cuba took one and a half days, but with a bit of spanish it was easy and straight forward. another few hours to get a cuban plate, no problem.

I paid all up for flying the bike and getting it out: 500 USD

The customs in cuba told me that they had a british couple on bmws and a japanese rider on a honda coming in this way into cuba.

Grant. I dont think any cuban in cuba spends much time on the internet, and as you know, they cant leave their prison island.

I took a sailboot from cuba to dominican republic, easy, but I took the bike completly apart.

and thats where I am now, in the Dominican Republic.

Saludos

Mika

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
