Want to go but no bike.
Just want to throw my hat into the ring here as well.
I'm an Aussie who would like to get involved in this ride by buying a bike in the USA. Problem is that I don't reside there and am having trouble finding out if I can legally buy, register and insure a bike there.
I have a friend living in Arizona who I think would allow me to use his address but still not sure if this is enough.
Anyone got any experience or ideas on this?
Thinking of heading over to LA early October to buy and prepare the bike (DR650), do a bit of a test run around the Arizona area for a week and then look at hooking up with one or more others to head south in November/December.
Cheers
Robin

Found it
Sorry about the previous posting without searching first.
I found the info I was after here: http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-newyork-56554
Still interested to see anything that anyone has to add to that though.

If any of you are interested in coming to Mexico City we can put you up. Send me a PM and we can arrange it. The city is great and we have been told (although I don't believe it) that we are good hosts.

Texas to Tiera del Fuego
Hi Jeff and others,
I'm heading south in early September from Austin, Texas. I'm 44, fit, experienced traveler in Latin America, speak Spanish and riding a DR650. I'm interested in riding with like minded folks for some or all the way. I have a plan, but not an itenerary. The plan is to take my time. If anyone is heading the same way about the same time, I'd be interested in talking.
I've started a website that has my loose plan and gear list. I'd love to hear your feedback on the packing list. THE ADVENTURE BEGINS.

HUBB meeting in California Oct. 14-16
I'm going to attend the HUBB meeting in Cali on my way South. Will be leaving Ottawa Ontario on October 1st and stopping to visit someone in Des Moines along the way until October 10th.
HU is offering an off-road riding course for $60 at the event. That will be a big bonus for me and my new DR.
Lots to do before then though. Just a matter of getting down to it.
Anyone else on this thread planning on going to the HU meeting?

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
