Also looking for Partners - Algeria to Cape Town
My son and I are looking at coming from London via Algeria, Niger down the West Coast of Africa starting about December 2010.
We will be travelling in 2 1995 Land Cruisers but will welcome all fellow travelers.
Especially to share Guide Fees in Algeria.
We are reasonably flexible about departure dates but think it wise to travel through the Sahara in the winter.
I can be reached at Sib.Andela@gmail.com
Happy dreaming and travelling

Europe to Cape Town
Hi!
Leaving from Amsterdam in 20 days' time! Enjoy the planning - that alone has been a journey on its own!
I'll post updates as I get the opportunity - most of my info came from the HUBB. Also Chris Scott's books and Lois' "Red Tape & White Knuckles".
Thanks to everyone who posted about their experiences, replied to my questions and shared info and good bits of advice!
Safe riding!

Currently planning a possible circumnavigation, i'll make the decision to carry on when i hit the cape - hopefully not literally ! Aiming to leave the uk about sept 2010 but can delay if needed or bring forward, but not by much due to business commitments !!
Intended route is through europe and onto syria/jordan, continuing of course via east route................but plans can change
Have travel experience but none on the bike (f650gs twin), so if there's anyone out there who's an excellent mechanic, would be good
Anyone going to Ripley............if so meet you there

Same here ... I will leave Belgium the 25th of October and will be at Gibraltar at about the 1st of November. Then travel the west-side from Morocco to South Africa (And maybe back the East-side). I drive solo on a BMW G 650 X Challenge.

Africa
We arrive in Cairo on the 27th July before heading down the east route. Will take 3 to 4 months. We are 2 couples riding 4 bikes 3 f650 twins and 1 f650 single. If anyone else is in that region around that time, we'd be keen for a and maybe ride together for a while. If not everybody have safe trips and enjoy the planning as it is half the fun !

My husband and I will be doing the African East Coast via Turkey, Syria, Jordan and Egypt... Leaving 6th September... Hahaha, I hear all of you saying... Yeah right...ROFL....
Well we live in hope... We're driving it with our 4x4 Landcruiser aptly named "Big Red". We're romantics, what can I say...
We'll pop in to say hello if we see you on the way... Do greet if you see us coming, coz honestly you can't miss us... We're gonna do a great deal of birdlife watching, so will be getting to all the unheard of places... Then doing our bit for charity as well... Much fun!!!
Just wanna go already!!!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
