Europe to Cape-town

I'm currently finishing off a few jobs on my truck and getting ready for hitting the road.
I will most likely be travelling alone as my partner is not ready to pack in work just yet.
I have been an Adventure motorcycle rider for the last 30 years and got back to the UK last year after a year riding in south America and Asia.

Since my return i have been busy building my Toyota HZJ79 camper and road testing in Scotland, Spain and France.
So to cut a long story short, I'm thinking of heading down through west Africa.
I have two alternatives, head out into Europe in May or June and spend some time exploring before starting down through Africa in January 2019.
or head straight for Morocco in June to start the Africa journey.

I'm basically asking for advice on the best time of year to do west Africa and also is anyone else traveling that way in either June 2018 or early 2019.

I would welcome any and all advice and any links to your blogs having done the same rout.

many thanks good people.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
