European ride next few weeks
Hi all,
I'm planning to jump on my bike ex south uk and ride for a few weeks in europe, certainly through france and some spain, hopefully some germany and maybe into eastern europe too, ie to kiev to visit some friends!
wondering if there is anyone out there with some time on their hands who fancies a bit of a jaunt before the winter sets in!!!
also does anyone have any advice about riding in eastern europe, esp re safety, borders/visas etc. . . i am solo female rider quite used to covering long distances alone, but just wonder about stability and safety in those areas??
plus its always fun to chat with a fellow rider over a cold after a good day on the road!
please do get in touch!
cheers

I might be interested in doing part of this with you. I live in mid west France, and although I've only just got back from a camping trip in the Pyrenees, I could be tempted to revisit and do some of Spain as well. Are you planning on using B&B's or camping.? When exactly are you thinking of going? Are you taking it easy on daily mileages, or do you have a time schedule to keep?

Hi Pongo. .
Lucky you camping in Pyrenees! So lovely up there!
That's be great if you're free to ride for a while!
I have no fixed schedule at all, my riding will all depend on how I feel day to day , the weather of course and what catches my eye along the way. . . I'm free as so no timeframe or anything. . .
Of course to make this practical for you too we'd need to fix a time and place. . .
I thought i'd just motel it or b n b when i'm not staying with friends, again partly for the weather aspect but also just to carry less gear. . . had i been a month or two earlier camping would definitely have been the go!!
So where in mid west France are you? I have friends who i'm hoping to see near Cahors. . . .
Time wise. . at this stage I'm hoping to head over on Thursday and go see friends in Hamburg, then probably head down through Germany, poss into Italy, back into France (friend in Montpellier) and then down into Spain (friend in Barcelona). . . so I guess it'd be about 10 days/2 weeks before I made it over to SW France?
Please do let me know if this could work for you?
Cheers,
Jen

Hi Jen,
Looks as though you'll be coming past me on your return leg to the U.K. up from Spain. I thought perhaps you might be going anti clockwise, so I think I'll 'duck' on this one, but it was a nice idea. I'm 40 Kms west of Limoges/250kms NNE Cahors. If you're coming past this way ,drop in for a brew or a stopover.( refs avaialble ! )

Hi Jen, I'm currently dawdling through France looking for sun and good roads. At Millau tonight then heading for Pyrenees, Andorra, Spain and on down to Morocco before returning up west Spain/Portugal and Ferry back to UK. I have no solid timescale but aim to back in UK by beginning November.
If you're in the vicinity let me know and we could share a few roads, and tall tales.
