Selling bike in Chile
Normally, used bikes can't be registered in Chile (i.e., a used bike originating outside of Chile). This is the result of a change in Chilean law about 1999 or so that protected Chilean new-bike dealers (and new-car dealers) from an influx of used vehicles from Asia. So it would appear that a non-Chilean-registered used-bike sale would not likely be sanctioned under Chilean regulations. Not certain how you might arrange the sale and title transfer if your title is in a US state or from another country, since it is unlikely to be recognized as a legal transfer in Chile. Maybe yes, maybe no, but if it can be made to work at all it will almost certainly remain a foreign-registered bike. If you are planning to "abandon" a decent KLR in southern Chile (southern Patagonia) we may be able to pay something for the salvage and accessories value - perhaps more than enough to get you back to your planet.
