Hi Bento,
Travelling from Europe to Australia was actually my initial plan however I had to re-dimension my plan and decided to reach Mongolia taking off from Annecy.
Yet, along the way, I might change my plan (eventually) and keep going to Australia via ???
Can you please inform the route you have chosen, the length of time of your trip, the provisional budget and the bike & equipment you have selected?
Thanks and regards,
Pierre

I'm still planning a lot of stuff. I invited you to the FB group, send me a message on FB if you want to ask me something :-)
My rough plan is to start in May in The Netherlands and go to Turkey, maybe a small detour to Baku, Iran, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kirgizstan, China, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, (maybe Vietnam?), Malaysia, Indonesia, East-Timor and then ship to Australia.
I don't have a set timeframe but I'm expecting to travel for about a year or so. Maybe if I'm still up for it at the end I'll ship to South Africa and back to Europe from there haha.
Anyway. Route through Europe is still unknown but I think I will drive south as fast as I can to get to nicer weather. Maybe via Lyon > Italy so that's close to Annecy. Thinking of Annecy makes me want to go on a skiing trip :-D

Via (shipping from) Vladivostok and/or Japan ?
That is probably the easiest in terms of all the countries and visas.

I hope you have an enjoyable trip. Whatever you do don't navigate by Garmin as it will most likely send you via Capetown.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
