From Santiago to Ushuaia.....
Hi everyone,
I´ll be flying the 15th of January from Bogota Colombia to Santiago de Chile with with my KTM 990, arriving the 16th of january.
From Santiago i´ll be starting my journey, same day i´ll arrive, to: Linares - Pucon - San Carlos de Bariloche - El Bolson - Futaleufu - Villa Santalucia - Coihaique - Perito Moreno - Bajo Caracoles - El Chalten - El Calafate - torres del Paine - Rio Gallegos - Rio Grande and hoping to get down to Ushuaia the 26th of January.
I´m very willing to take an Antartic tour once i ´ll arrive to Ushuaia, any ideas?
Then i´ll start my return to Colombia, riding my bike, going up to Buenos Aires ( Rout 3), La Paz ( Bolivia ), Lima ( Peru ), Guayaquil - Manta - Quito ( Ecuador ) and entering to Colombia the first week of March.
Ï´m a newbie in the hubb, willing to know every tip you can give me, and hoping to find a riding buddy to share this awsom experience.
Regards!

I just got back from Antarctica, I booked through Alicia at antarctictravels.com. She is not associated with any particular tour company and got me a last minute deal on what turned out to be a great boat.

There was a fair amount of cloud, but the sun did shine enough to get some good pictures. it snowed a few times, had some good winds too. the Drake crossing was fairly good going down, and fairly rough coming back. You have to be flexible with the Antarctic trips as the weather can make plans change at any time. We missed the hot spring stop on Deception Island due to snow and wind. You can see my pictures on Flickr Antarctica - a set on Flickr

As I plan my trip north, I will be going to some of the places you plan to visit on the way south, Carretera Austral, etc., so there is a chance that we will cross paths. I stayed in Pucon for 4 days on the way down. I can recommend the Hostel Geronimo (S39.27322 W71.97225) there. I have Spot satellite tracking turned on when traveling, so you can see where I am by linking from my web site broomhall.ca

I arrived in Los Antiguos, Argentina, today. Tomorrow morning (Saturday) I am crossing the border back into Chile at Chile Chico, then starting my run north on the Carretera Austral. I expect it will take me about 4 days to get back to Argentina at the Futaleufu / Trevelin border crossing, then I will be heading north on Ruta 40 to Mendoza, hope to get there in early Feb.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
