Hi,
We will be looking to cross Iran an Pakistan at this time also, though think entry into Iran is limited until 22nd June after elections. We are currently in Greece but will be in Turkey in a few days where we will try to get our Iran Visa. Do you have visas already?

Hello Paul,
I guess this information will be useful for you and all others who are planning to get İran visa in İstanbul.
3 Iran consulates available in Turkey;İstanbul,Erzurum,Trabzon and plus Iran Embassy in Ankara.
In İstanbul opposite of the Mayor Office, next to the traffic lights.
Highly recommend stay in real sultanahmet close to blue mosque..
(Walking distance from Sultanahmet.)
Ankara Cad. No.1, Cağaloğlu, İstanbul
Telefon: (212) 513 82 30
Faks: (212) 511 52 19
iranconsulateist@ircgi.org
Just a reminder for fast paperwork.
If you have the code number, be there at 8,30 am, get the paper given by the guard on which bank details written, walk downhill to the bank, pay the visa fee, come back to the consulate, fill the form and give the form and bank document to the officer and get your date to pick your visa...
(On internet aksaray, kumkapı,fatih, eminönü hotels advertise that they are at sultanahmet even they are about 30 minutes uphill walk far.)
Wish you all the best..

Thanks mehmet, really useful information. We are still awaiting our code from an agency but will hopefully have it soon.
Martino - we were told travel was restricted until after the elections, which takes place on the 14th June. We were leaving a week after for everything to hopefully settle back down to normal for travel.
Hopefully once we have our LOI we will go to the embassy in Istanbul and follow Mehmets advice.
Even so the agency supplying our LOI suggested it can take between 1-7 days for the visa to be granted and there is only a 75% chance of approval. Fingers crossed. We didn't apply from the UK as there is no Iranian Embassy there at present.
We plan to make our way to Istanbul on Tuesday, currently in Thasos.
Once we have our visas we were going to travel around turkey until the 22nd June.
What date do you plan to enter Iran? Do you have your Pakistan visa already?
Namaskar - sorry August is a little too late for us.

Bulgarian-Turkish border
Hi guys!
I am in Biser,Bulgaria for the moment. I am planning to go to Istanbul tomorrow also. I will be heading for a campsite in the north of Istanbul called Mistik Camping. I will be travelling for aweek or two through Turkey before I head to Iran. I planned to get my visa in Trabzon, there it should be easier. My pakistanian visa i already have. I also going to apply for the Indian visa in trabzon.
The places i surely want to visit after Istanbul are Safranbolu, cappadocia, bursa and amasya. If someone is interested in meeting somewhere let me know!

Hi Rochke,
We planned to head for a camp called mocamp on the way to Istanbul tomorrow, as we will be sticking round for a good few days to get a number of things sorted. Our route through turkey however sounds similar to your plans, we also have our Pakistan and India visa, though just need to get Iran sorted, would be keen to do some of the route together, let me know your plans, our site is overland2omaha.com

Hi Martino,
Great to hear you will have your visa, we also had success at the Iran consulate in Istanbul yesterday. It was stipulated we can enter anytime within the next two weeks so it has to be before the 24 June and we have 20 days once we have crossed the border.
We paid for same day as we wanted to get going, currently in Iznik but leaving today for Afyon and then making our way over to capadoccia to be there for Saturday. After that we'll head north/north east but not sure on timings yet. Perhaps Erzurum would be a good place to try and meet up? On the 20/21 June?
Rochdi - how does Erzurum sound for you?
Do you have any indication of how many days you will be granted on your visa? We've read that it is possibly to extend once in Iran.
