Going to Mexico via el paso or nuevo laredo

I live in Iowa, am planning a trip to the copper canyon in April or May. want to hook up with someone (s) to travel with. I'm 55 and don't really want to travel alone and prefer a group or one person either. Might be safer according to my kids. No iteniary, just free wheeling, may go to someone else scenic. Will be crossing at Nuevo Laredo or El Paso. I ride an R1100GS. Lets' talk. Khdempsey@msn.com or 712-642-3583 evenings. Gung Ho.

Hey aerohead , don´t worry about riding alone, it is no problem at all if you are just careful about not dropping the bike and needing to go for help to get it on two wheels again.(don´t ask!)´Safety is really not a worry if you are sensible, mind your surroundings , ride only during daylight on the open highway and stay away from big city slums at night.
Riding alone has it´s advantages - you don´t need to constantly keep track of where the other person is in traffic, when they get separated, no arguments about what road to take or time and speed preferences. If you take a wrong turn you won´t loose the others, can go where ever you want. You are already almost there when you say you have no itinerary.I´m 61 and have been traveling Mexico and CA alone for 30 years, most recently on a R1100GS and a KLR.Right now moving down the east side of Mex, after punching thru some cold rainy weather of Frente Frio 38.

Mexico

Hey Aerohead,
I live in El Paso and just returned from 3 months in Mexico. Plan on going back soon. My schedule is really flexible. Matter of fact, only reason i came back is to trade for another bike. Are you planning on traveling further south or just to the canyon?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
