How was the Guate to El Salvador crossing? How is your Spanish serving you?
I am still in Xela, enjoying the homestay, practicing like a bastard. I can talk on the phone, now. Probably off next weekend.
Hope all is well.

Border crossing sucks but I'm getting better at it. My Spanish is far from good but a little has gone a looong way.
The worst border is El Salvador/Honduras, I got suckered out of $15 for a bogus computer usage charge, I knew it was wrong but fell for it anyway out of fear, don't fall for it!
I thought I liked Guatemala until I got to El Salvador, travel slow, as price/niceness goes, it really doesn't get any better IMO. The beaches are great and very cheap, breakfast for three was about $6 and a room by the sea was $12/$20. The People in El Salvador have been the nicest so far. Nicaragua was also a real surprise, very nice and cheap.
You'll like Leon, hate Managua and love Granada but again, my favorite places were the beaches.
Costa Rica is the prettiest but also costs the most too. Don't ride fast, cops with radar guns are everywhere, I even got a ticket! Almost 2 tickets.
I'm at a hostel in Panama City now, getting ready to meet the boat on the 24th.
The one thing I really leaned by traveling with the Germans was to plan where want to go ahead of time, they made great use of their guide book so we were able to see really cool things without riding nearly as much.
Hope this is useful.
Ricky
