Hey Tino, Andy,
Looks like we may be catching up.
Tino, I'll find out about the validity of the visas when I get them. There is only the one campsite here and it's not too bad. At least there are good cheap eating places and it's easy to get a bus into Istanbul. The campsite gives you a free pass for the beach too so I spent the day swimming in the Black Sea. I am staying in a room instead of camping.
Hopefully see you soon
Kenny

Hi Tino, Andy and Kenny,
Hope that your all well and staying safe on the road. I`ve just arrived in Istanbul and will stay until the 19th before heading along the Black Sea coast then towards the Iranian border. I`m intending to cross the border into Iran end August/ beginning Sept.
Tino, have you found a definitive answer to your visa question yet? I asked another friend who did a similar trip 3 years ago and he thought that the three month validity related to the entry date - but definitely check it out, don`t take my word for it because I`m not 100% sure.
Andy, I`d be careful about trying to blag your way into Iran with an invalid Carnet - I heard somewhere that the problem is not getting in to one country, it`s getting into the next country (in your case Pakistan I guess), if everything with the Carnet hasn`t been done properly. It`s a long way back through Iran to sort the problem out.
Hope to hear from you guys in the next few days and hope that we can sort something out.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Chris,
I have sent you a PM. I'm in Istanbul for the week picking up visas.
I have had a few scares on the roads here- mainly trucks and buses seeing me coming from the opposite direction and still pulling out and overtaking tractors. I had a huge one yesterday on a twisty road- I came around a blind corner only to be confronted with a car overtaking a tractor and heading straight towards me. I ended up about 10 m off th road- thankfully the deep culvert on the side of the road had ended a little further back. Had to go and change my underpants though. I recommend brown bike trousers to anybody riding in this area . The colour depends on your diet of course!! Enough said.
Cheers,
Kenny

Kenny, see my reply elsewhere on the forum about drıvıng ın Turkey. The problem wıth my carnet ıs that ıts not dodgy, just not valıd tıll the 1st of September, and Id rather be rıdıng through Iran to Pakıstan and Indıa than hangıng around ın Turkey for another two weeks. If I could get through the Iranıan border before the 1sı September and stay there tıll the carnet becomes valıd there shopuldnt be a problem gettın ınto Pakıstan (hopefully).

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
