Israel/Egypt to South Africa NOW(ish)

I'm in Israel right now (Dec. 30 2015) and am working on getting my motorcycle into Egypt for a ride to South Africa via the eastern route. Rough target date for beginning in Egypt is 2nd week January 2016.

My paperwork is a mess and I need to take care of some shit before getting into Egypt. Also, I found recently that Egypt isn't allowing two-wheeled transit across the Sinai right now due to security concerns, so I'm also needing to work out a creative way to get to Cairo. Its all a mess, but I'll figure it out.

I've been on the road since April 2015, started in San Francisco > europe > israel. After South Africa I have no idea what I'm doing -- I'll either go back up or get in a boat bound for Turkey or India or whatever. Looking for motorcycle riders to join me on the eastern route of africa.

Deets:
Nationality: USA
Motorcycle: Suzuki DR650
Purpose: RTW, started April 2015 from San Francisco
Misc: I'm an excellent mechanic

An option for you is Jibuti or port sudan. I did Africa northbound a few month ago. Could not get in or out of Egypt so turned around from Sudan into Ethiopia. If you need info on the eastern route do not hesitate to ask......Cheers.

I am on my way north to Israel and maybe I'll see you on the way up. I am in Nairobi now arranging the Ethiopian and Sudanese visas. Hopefully you got your paperwork sorted and are on the move, shame about the Egypt/motorbike shenanigans. I intend to pass through Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Give me a holler if you have any questions for the way south. Safari njema. [URL="http://www.fightgravitybymoto.wordpress.com"]

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
