Kolyma Highway / Yakutia Jan / Feb 2018 heading West
Hi
My truck is currently in Magadan after a 9 week drive from Europe.
Next year, in late January or early February I'll be heading back west along the Kolyma Highway.
Bit of a long shot, but if there is anyone out there with a similar plan (i.e. with their own car), I'd be very glad to team up.
Note that I am looking for another person / group with their own vehicle. I am not looking for a passenger (and don't have space).
You need a properly prepared vehicle for temperatures below -40 ºC (lower temperature antifreeze, very low pour-point oils in the engine / transmission etc / proper snow tyres / steel hydraulic hoses / double windscreen / insulated engine bay / interior and preferably a cabin heater) and also good polar / Himalayan cold weather gear.
Dates are fairly flexible within a 3 week period from mid Jan let's say.
I plan to stop in Susuman, Ust-Nera and Khandyga on the way (where I have arranged heated garages so that the engine may be stopped). I wish to make a side trip from Kyubeme to Oymyakon (on the modern spur road, not the Old Summer Road).
Interested to hear from anyone with similar plans, or who might know someone with such.
EO
