London to Cape Town - April Departure
Hello everyone
Myself and the girlfriend are heading to Cape Town from London on the 16th April. Will be travelling the west coast route. Original plan was to drive back to Europe through East Africa, Jordan, Syria and Turkey, the latter part of this route is obviously not really feasible anymore so now keeping our hopes up that RORO ferry services from Alexandria will resume in time for us to get back home. Anyway, we are travelling in a Landcruiser and looking to convoy with other overlanders, certainly at least through Mauritania and Nigeria if our time tables match. Have attached our proposed schedule. Get in touch if this interests you or you just fancy a enroute to share tales of your adventures.
Danny & Gill

Wow - looks like a mega trip!
In 3 years, I'll be doing London to Cape Town (on a bike!) so really interested to see that you're taking nearly 9 months to do your trip. I was thinking of spending circa 3 months on the same sort of trip!
I guess you're taking the trip steady?!
I was in Libya in a Toyota Landcruiser not that long ago and basically drove non-stop from there to London (a hell of a trek!!). It took us around 24 hours of driving (plus a ferry) to do the trip so you've obviously got a relaxed tour going on there!!
Are you enjoying the planning and preparations?!
If you fancy a bevvie at some point, I'm South Bucks

re: London to Cape Town - April Departure
Hi Danny_Fitz,
Your trip sounds fantastic. Do you or anyone else that might be joining your trip need an extra passenger to share expenses etc? I don't want to make the trip alone...
I am a UK/US passport holder living in Sweden. Spent 20 years in London.
Cheers, Chris

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
