India > Myanmar > China > Mongolia crossing - starting July 28th, 2016

Hi there,

we are two couples and two vehicles from Germany. In regard to the new regulations which have recently been introduced in Thailand, we decided to skip South-East Asia and travel up north to Mongolia. We've already confirmed our Myanmar crossing starting July 28th, for 14 days. We just informed our guide, that we want to change plans and exit to China instead of Thailand. For China we are in touch with NAVO Tours, they can arrange a 14-21 days crossing. They'll need only about a month to get all the papers right, so we are looking at crossing from Myanmar to China on August 12th.

If anyone is interested in a spontaneous change of plans - please do let us know If everything goes smooth, we'll be in Mongolia in early September, best time to visit.

Costs are round about 1100 USD p.p. for Myanmar, and 3500 USD (per car and 2 pax) for China.
Plus fuel, food, etc.

I have just been reading your post from last year, we didn't know about the new regulations in Thailand until we started travelling through China with a group of fellow travellers, so we are now in Laos and wondering how to get out!!
Did you manage to cross from Myanmar into China? If so we could if necessary do it in reverse if we can't get a permit for Thailand.
