Mexico in February

Early planning stage, anybody else thinking of going to Mexico in February? I'm going to truck down to warmer drier weather from Nova Scotia and then ride for a month. Anybody and everybody welcome to ride along..

Not sure where I'm crossing, hoping to find somewhere quiet. How about you?

I usually cross at Del Rio or Eagle Pass.

Those would work for me, no problem. Their not too far from Houston. Are both those crossings fairly quiet?

Thanks Philip

Both are very quiet. Here's what I usually do:

1. I get the vehicle import permit online. The permit comes to your house from Mexico City three days after you order it online via Fedex or DHL.

2. It is a day ride from Houston to Del Rio. I get to Del Rio near the end of the day and check into a hotel.

3. Then I walk across the bridge and get my tourist visa that evening. I then walk back into the US and spend the night on the US side.

4. In the morning, at dawn, I ride either right into Cd. Acuna or I ride down on the US side and cross at Piedras Negras.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
