Off to Mongolia starting may 2010 - anyone else?
Hi there,
We will start our trip beginning of may heading east mainly along the 48th degree of latitude ... The rough route is as follows: Germany - Austria - Hungary - Romania - Ukraine - Russia - Kazakstan - Russia - -Mongolia and then back home . We are going with 2 Africa Twins and a 80GS.
Anyone else on a trip in this direction at that time? Maybe we can meet up on the road for a then.
See you
Björn

Hi El-Dracho........
There are 3 of us from Colorado traveling in that part of the world at the same time. We start in May from Germany but go a bit farther south to Turkey, into the 'Stans, to Mongolia and then back through Russia to Germany. Perhaps a in Ulan Bataar?

Starting where and what date in May?
I will leave Heidelberg Germany after picking up my bike from Knopftours late April or early May. I'm riding to Magadan Russia then ride a different route back to Heidelberg. Doesn't matter which route I take provided I can get the additional Visas.

starting in May
Hi Guys,
We will be travelling in the general vicinity around that time. We are five starting in Tokyo around the 3rd. of May and catching the ferry to Sakhalin on the 8th. June, then heading west towards Irkutsk before going to Mongolia and the Stans. We are plannng on reaching St. Petersburgh sometime in September
It would be fun to cross paths for a and a yarn.

I'm also planning on leaving early May from Germany/Switzerland and allowing 2 months to get to UB in time for Naadam.
Planned route is to fang it over to Turkey, then slow down to see the Stans, and Mongolia.
Not sure how many Aussies will be in our group, 1-5 I expect. A couple of the girls are looking to buy bikes in Europe for the trip and we might arrange a shipment back to Europe or OZ after getting to UB. I may ride mine back via Russia if I have time.

I'll leave in the beginning of May through Germany-Poland-Ukraîne-Russia(till baikal lake)-Mongolia-and back through the Stans-Turkey-and Central Europe for about 6 months.
Would be nice to meet up or ride with others!
Drop me a line if anyone's interested to do so.
Cheers, Bossit!

Yeah I'm planning something along those lines, leaving south east England mid May on a KLR 650 and first place I really want to stop at is Odessa after that taking it easy heading into Kazakhstan, Russia into Mongolia (not necessarily Ulaan Baatar) for the Naadam festival. And then depending on time and money, condition of bike and body. Either coming back via the 'Stans or possibly on to Magadan, and south (obviously) from Alaska. Judging by the other threads I think I’ll be hard pressed not to see other overlanders. Ill the one at the back with a map and a compass. GPS? I only just got an electric start.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
