Red face Peru & Bolivia next 3 months

I've been traveling solo the past 13 months, but now that I'm about to enter Peru and Bolivia, I'm thinking it would be best to travel the more out of the way areas (off pavement) with one or a few other riding partners.

I don't have a set travel plan, no schedule to keep, so I'm flexible on making up routes, taking in the best of both countries. I'm not traveling straight through but taking some time to enjoy the experience. I'm figuring on making Chile/Argentina sometime mid August.

I'm experienced off road, don't mind the challenge of a tough stretch, keeping in perspective my age and the maxed-out GVW on my 650 Dakar (trying to preserve both for a few more years of travel). I'm also riding road tires (Perelli Scorpions), not dirt tires - a compromise of wear vs. suitability.

Anyone out there for some or all of the next couple 3 months of adventure travel, looking for same?

Hey

If you are in Lima, visit a friend of mine (Bruno), he is organizing off road trips for bikes and 4x4. Perumoto - News.
....you have not to go with him or to book anything ....he is a old style biker, he will help and for sure he will help you with some cool hot spots
for some nice rides.

have fun
Mike

Gday quastdog,

Where are you at the moment? Im still in La Paz and Im going into the amazon for a week or so before heading back. So Ill probably be leaving La Paz in 10-12days. Im planning my route down to Potosi, Sucre then to Uyuni. When I get there Im gonna look into the possibilities of following a jeep tour to Chile but having a riding partner would obviously be a lot more fun. The road is pretty rough but from what I have heard its spectacular landscapes.

Cheers,
Ilya

Ilya:
I just crossed the border today - in Piura this evening, heading south in the a.m. I'm probably several weeks behind you; I wasn't figuring on getting to Bolivia for another 50-60 days or so. That could change, but don't wait for me. I'm prepared to tackle the journey solo; I may have to be a tad less ambitious on some of the route though without a mate to cover my ass.

I'll be in touch.

Brennan:

I'm in Huanchaco today - had a hard ride from Cajamarca to Trujillo via Cajabamba yesterday, got in last evening a tad after dark. I could use a few s today if you´re still in the area.

If you're in the area, I'm at the Huankarute Hostel, along the beach.

Pepe:
Thanks for that, but I'm heading for Caraz (Cordillera Blanca), in the morning and Huaraz after that. I figure on making it down to Lima about the 1st or 2nd, just before the Encuentro Motoquero. I'll contact you later in the week.

Thanks again.
