Putting out feelers: any interest in sharing Iran guide, mid September 2014?
Hello
We are debating back and forth between ourselves whether we should include Iran in our itinerary.
We really want to go and have heard so many positive things that we got really excited about going, until we heard about Brits (and Americans and Candians) needing guides and the prices.
So shall we do it or not? We don't know.
Maybe Kazakhstan and Russia instead, but my heart doesn't take a little jump with them, like it does with Iran.
We're not too far with our research yet, but the price seems to vary from GBP 1,000 for 9 days incl hotels for 1 person (or couple?) to $1800 for 2 weeks without accommodation, plus guide accommodation on top.
So. Right now we just wanted to get an idea as to whether anyone at all would be interested in joining us?
We'd be going from Turkmenistan on about 16th September (don't have our transit visas yet)
and would like to stay for 2, to ideally 3 weeks
crossing into Turkey.
Would anyone be up for it or everyone's re-routing to avoid this issue at the moment?
Look forward to hearing from anyone!

Hey Whicky,
just wanted to ask you to post any info you get regarding guides, tour companies etc you will use if you do choose to go. I will be in the same boat next year (Canadian) crossing Iran along with many others i am sure. I am currently in Thailand an am going to spend the winter in Asia. The guide thing has thrown a wrench into the whole ride across. Being a free traveller I hate being on a guided schedule.
I am now considering flying from Mumbi to Istanbul when I do cross if i cannot match up with others for guide cost. That being said flying will probably cost the same as a guide.
thanks Ryan

We are in the same boat, Be in Thailand in Sept and on to India through Myanmar. We are also looking at flying from Mumbai to Istanbul.
We can't even get any quotes for guides through Iran heading from Pak.

Hi Guys.
I'm planning Aus to UK trip, starting early Sept. Planning to do Myanmar early 2015 (Jan or Feb). Another couple (overland15) are planning same either March/April - refer link http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...overland-76454
Is anyone on this thread planning to do Myanmar in this time frame? Keen to join forces with anyone who is.
We do have a couple of quotes from Tin (Bright View Travels & Tours) and Mutu (Welcome to : Myanmar Expert Travel and Tours Co., Ltd.).
Will also follow this thread with interest as I would love to do India -> Pakistan -> Iran
Cheers, Rob.

Hi Rob,
I am keen to do so, good to see more and more people here that are! Overland15 already invited me to the Myanmar crossing Google group, are you part of that as well?
Afterwards, planning to do India - Nepal - India - Pakistan - Iran - ... so very interested in what happens in this thread too!
Cheers, Paul
