Santiago - Mendoza and then north

I shall be arriving in Santiago on 8 April and would like to start heading north, via Mondoza fairly soon after that.

I am riding a Suzuki V-Strom 650 and would like some company for the journey. I intend to stuck primarily to sealed roads, but am prepared to give anything a go once I get my new knobbly tyres!

My routing will take me all the way up through Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia to Cartagena, where I intend to sail to Colon, Panama, before heading north to the US. I tend to arrive in the US around the beginning of July.

Interested??

Ride north

Hola from Buenos Aires....

I am interested in riding north with you but I wont be leaving Buenos Aires until later at best. But I am interested in the same sort of route and a boat ride from Cartegena sounds great. I have a good friend to see in Panama City for a couple of weeks also.
So it might be possible to hook up along the road I hope..

Please keep this thread active regarding your whereabouts..

Thanks,

Chas Walter

Hi Chas,

I am in contact with a couple who will be leaving Santiago on the 17th, or thereabouts, so my dates have slipped a bit. Does this suit you better for catching up?

Hey, I´m riding a DL650 as well on the same route as you with roughly the same time frame.
I am in Santiago at the moment but I hope to leave for Mendoza tomorrow (or the day after). I am riding on my own but it would be great to hook up later on for a while. I´m sure our paths will cross.

Bruce.

Blueabyss.. are you referring to Larry Davis and wife on GS1200? I have been in much contact with Larry. I will be likely unable to join you guys inititally as I return from Rio de Janerio in April 16th and will likely spend another week to two weeks in Buenos Aires before departing north..

Chas: Yes, it is Larry & wife who I am in contact with.

Bruce: No problems. PM me and I'll give you my email. I have just fitted a Michelin Anakee on the rear of my DL650 to replace the part-worn Trail-Wing. It gets a good write-up in the forums and wears well.

I have just sourced myself a crate to fly my bike in to Santiago - it's actually from a Triumph Bonneville!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
