Santiago to Salvador Brazil November to December

Hey all,

if there's anyone close to Chile right now, we're 2 Australian KLR riders starting the first leg of our South American trip, riding the 5,500kms from Santiago to Salvador in about 6 weeks (with the aim to be there for Christmas) before we head south.

If there is anyone out there that keen to join us, please come along.

Website - adelaidetoanchorage.com & email - adelaidetoanchorage@gmail.om

Cheers.

Mick & Dave

If you're still in Santiago, which backpackers are you in? If you have left, can you reccommend a BP. Ride safe.

We planned to stay at the Luna Calypso, but have been taken in by a local family instead. I had a friend check the place out tho before we arrived and it was apparently really nice, friendly and the owner was willing to take the bikes into a safe area.

Hi Guys, I'm just south of Valpariso and heading round the top of Santiago today (16th) and crossing into Argentina and Mendoza tomorrow. I intend to stop there for a bit of a travel break before heading over to Iguazu. I'll let you know which BP by this means. Ride safe.

Alamo backpackers Mendoza, Arg$65.00 in a 4 bed dorm. Seems ok with secure parking for bikes and a s'market over the road with the biggest booze section I have ever seen outside of the old channel booze run days. Ride safe.

The best road to Rio is by the coast if you are arrround Sao Paulo go to the coast ( Santos) and ride north a great stop is Paraty but many other places are too. I am in Rio now and until the 2 of January , I will be then headin toward Belem using the inside road if the weather get bead I may follow the coast

Hi Guys, I´ve turned south again to wait for mid Feb before heading into Brazil. This was on the advice of some Brazilian riders who spoke of the annual flooding of the Panatal both by water and by people so I´m looking forwards to Hogmanay in Ushuaia before the Caratera Austral. I would be grateful for any snippits as you go. Happy New Year and ride safe.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
