Yesterday we booked our self-drive tour through Iran, with a guide due to the regulations currently in place for Brits, Americans & Canadians.
We thought we'd open it up to anyone who might want to join, and therefore share the costs.
A quick decision would be needed though as the agencies are saying lead times for getting the visa numbers are increasing.
We will get ours before 29th August and apply for visa in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. If you're not British, American or Canadian, the waiting time is only about 2 weeks.
We've chosen a route that will hopefully give us a good initial insight into Iran and its culture, history and nature, so we're not doing the quickest route! The guide trained, not just an official, and the agency, Up Persia, has experience in overland tours.
We'll be entering Iran from the closest crossing Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 16th September
and crossing into Kapikoy, Turkey on 8th October.

We're in a Toyota Landcruiser heading home after just over a year going Germany to Thailand and back. Jens is a motorcyclist, too and theoretically I am too, though I can't actually remember the last time I rode myself :-)
