Shipping from Thailand to Nepal
Hi travellers.
At the moment I am in Vietnam on my way through Cambodia into Thailand. I plan to ship my motorcycle from Thailand/ Bangkok to Nepal/ Kathmandu sometimes mid May. Is anybody heading same direction and like to share?

Yes Juergen, please enlighten us: did you get your own bike into Vietnam and how? Have the rules changed?
Cheers,
Peter (another German Kiwi).

Looks like thats from April 2002, so Im afraid we wont get much new info...
My friend, who lives near Bangkok, and has done lots and lots of riding for around 30 years all over SE Asia (in fact he did a RTW-tour in 1974). He´s ridden in Vietnam on a rental bike, but has NOT been able to bring his own, foreign-registered bike in. It might be possible for those who live and work there, but for the normal tourist it is very very difficult.
Ive seen Vietnamese-registered bikes in Cambodia and Laos, they had been succesfully brought out of the country, but I dont know if they got back in or not. Some were planning to do that.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
