Cool I check it out as well when I get there. I think I would need to spend at least a week in Istanbul because I would need to organize visas there and get the bike serviced.
How much would a major service be on a VStrom 650 in Istanbul?
How much would a new back tire be (like a Anarchy)?
Thanks again. Looking forward to meet other bikers on the road.

hi vangraan,
full servicing of dl650 will take all afternoon. if you could tell me the day of your arrival i can book it for you. do you want a authorised dealer or a good mechanic? i am not going to a dealer service. i have a good mechanic here, who also charge almost the half the price.
i dont know about anarchy, but, metzeler tourance cost about 130-150 euro. should be order in advance.
have fun on the road and drop me a line before you come.

Vangraan,
we (me & the mrs) are leaving for Jordan-Syria-Turkey by 3rd week of Oct'09 and will be travelling in Turkey along the Med sea coast, then to Istanbul-Ankara-Cappadocia then back to syria.
We will be entering Turkey from Syria probably on 5th Nov'09. Do wave if you see us on the road on a KTM990S (the blue bike) and if fate has it, we might even ride together on the med-coast.
PS : we are planning to do 80% dirt roads and stay off the highways in turkey in order to enjoy the country better.

Appreciate the inputs. We are sticking to the mediterranean coast and will only reach ankara in the central regions. We are not going into the black sea coast OR the eastern regions. Do you think it will be so cold that we wont be able to ride ? how cold would it get ? 10-15DegC ?
We are more concerned about the rains more than the cold, so pls let me know if it will rain much in Nov along the mediterranean coast ?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
