Hey Jimmy,
A friend and I did a similar route about a year ago on little Russian Minsks...they were 125cc 2 strokes...You are gonna have a blast...Especially on the Luang Prabang to Vientiane route...soo beautiful. Watch yourself...We passed what seemed like 30 young men with AK47's on that route...no problems though..
Have fun!

We will proberbly arrive in Chaing Mai about the first week in January. Hope we can catch up before you leave on your trip. We will then head for Laos as well so if we miss you in Chiang Mai then perhaps somewhere in Laos will be the go.

There is a guy from Scotland, but based in Australia, who is on a ride for a charity called Ride Aid. Check it on www.rideaid.net
He is on his way to your part of the woods before he goes on to Cambodia. His trip is being made into a TV programme. He would like a biker to ride your area with him and use his fancy video camera to film his ride. A bit hard to film yourself while riding a bike. Thought that you may like to help out.
The Aussie/Scot is called Frank Surgener and we met him last night on Samui. Great guy. And a great project.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
