Trans Africa via west + central, Jan 2015

Hay
We have a Ex army Bedford 4x4 truck and we are going to start to drive from January 2015 from Reykjavik Iceland to Capaetown,
We will take the ferry from the east of Iceland to Faro islands , then on to Denmark, Germany, France to Spain.....we will cross to Morocco and head south.

we go via south Mali, on to Ghana, we plan to cross Nigeria unless things develope badly, the alternative is to go around Chad....then down to Cameroon ect, DRC Angola ect ect

Our driver has done this trip before but a few years ago..but he is still very experienced in the area.

this is a trip that you need to pay to join, but its still a lot cheaper than doing it on your own, we are not a registered tour company.....more like a private organised expedition. considering Ebola and boko haram i think we are likely to be one of the only trucks to go down the west this coming dry season.

so who wants to join...there will be a max of 14 passengers but considering current bad publicity over west africa on the news i would expect around half of this group size.....we already have enough numbers to pay for gas and the driver, so we are defiantly going.....

warning, we are a very basic truck, we will be slow muddy and dusty, but its a strong truck and easy to fix and its small enough to go via the real bad roads in Congo with non problem....if a border closes we have the ability to drive around to remote crossings....there is even a chance that if we dont get the Angola visa then, we would cross DRC on road #1, no easy task but possible in Bedford truck.

In 2013 we organised a successfully trip like this, being the first people ever to drive from Iceland to SouthAfrica

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
