Hey,
About eh ferry, they are several option to cross from Italy to Greece.
One off the best online booking site is this one
Book cheap Minoan Lines ferries online | Offers, Routes, Map | AFerry.com
You can cross from Venice, Ancona, Trieste and arrived in Patras or Igoymenitsa port in Greece.
The port of Patras is closer to capital Athens.About 200 kms. Igoumenitsa port is at north of Greece, butt is a good option to go to visit Vikos Canyon and etc.
Us for the riding in Greece, is very interested sentry and like always we ride, so we have to be care about it.
If you need something more specific, pls let me know.
Cheers
