UK-OZ via Iran, India etc Summer 2006
Hi
Nearly got my funding sorted out and can now seriously start planning my trip properly. I'm really looking to see if anyone else is going this route, say leaving around July 2006, I'm pretty flexible timewise but expect this to take around 4-6 months. I'm mid 30's from Edinburgh, pretty laid back and have a GS1150 by the way. Have only really done Europe, UK and Ireland bike trips in the past, always with friends so doing this solo is a little bit daunting!
I've now got to try and sort out visas, carnet and everything else, I'm assuming I can do all this in the next 3-4 months? If anybody knows different, please let me know thanks.
Cheers

Mike,
I'm preapring something along these lines, leaving begining of summer (I'm from Switzerland, also in my 30s). I was thinking to go through the 'stans and China (!), some amazing rides there.. I think that crossing the desert in Iran during the summer would not be too pleasant, and in Pakistan/India one would hit the monsoon, also maybe not the best conditions to ride.
India of course would be great from October on, but it also look like a dead end as I heard it's not possible to cross Burma; that would mean shipping the bike by sea, too bad.
I'm pretty open as far as timing or routes, let's discuss it if you wish.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
