Vancouver to Panama City - Departure mid-February 2025
Wondering if anyone else is planning a ride down to Central America in 2025. If so, if anyone wants to connect for part or most of the way, I would love to hear from you.
My route is to beeline through most of the US as I have ridden extensively in the States. Will aim to go from Vancouver down to San Diego in just a few days. Then, I'm planning to switch tires there to a set of Dunlop Mission Trailmax for the trip through Central America. I found those tires to be great when I rode up to Tuk last summer.
I'm turning 55, still working full time, so I have limited time to get to Panama City, my destination point. I'm aiming to be quite focus on getting through within about 4 weeks, as that's my max vacation time. I will be riding my 2021 Vstrom 650, which is setup for the trip as it sits. I did a five state tour this summer on it and is happy with the touring setup so far. I think it will handle the trip. My plan is to then store the bike in Panama City until the following year, and have it flown to Columbia then come back the following season to pick up the trip going through South America.
If anyone has recent experience with border process in Central America, must have requirement for documents, like vaccine documents (needed?), or outfit for good bike storage option in Panama City, please share your thoughts, I do appreciate it. Also, I definitely have a handicap with not really being able to speak Spanish, so I'm going to have to rely heavily on Google Translate along the way.
At any rate, I understand this is not ideal for most of you adventure riders, but if anyone happens to be going the same way, please feel free to shoot me a message. My email is nguyenhub@gmail.com. All the best. Thanks.
