Heading west out of Vladivostok June/July 08 toward Ukraine. Anyone else heading that direction?

We will be in the Vladivostok region beginning of July 2008 (probably around 14th), starting our trip to London. There are 2 of us (my wife and I) and we will be travelling in a 4x4.

Since you will be in a 4x4 our pace might be a little different and I would not want to slow you down. How many miles do you plan to cover each day in Siberia? I was thinking if I did 320km a day that would be good. I maybe wrong but I was thinking the further west the more km per day I could ride. Do you plan on camping or staying at low cost hotels? I was hoping to stay at low cost hotels most of the way.

Hi

We haven't really decided on distance per day. I think our approach will be that we will also try to stick to 200-300km per day but this is VERY flexible. If there is nothing to see/do for miles and miles, then we'll keep going until we find something interesting.

We are hoping to stick to camping most of the time with the odd day here and there in CHEAP motels for a quick wash down etc.

We are also hoping of going to Magadan, but this would mean we need to back track 1500-2000 km to Yakutsk which I'm not that keen on. Weather also plays a big part in our decision on that.

So all in all, we are very flexible, prob with the exception on camping (we will be sleeping in our fourby).

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
