3rd Party Insurance for Rental Bikes (Thailand)
25 years ago, fresh faced Young Daewoo did his first ride in Thailand for a couple of days. Young Daewoo, like all under 30s was indestructible, optimistic and irresponsible. Young Daewoo didn't have and need for travel insurance, and in fact didn't even have a motorbike licence. Luckily for Young Daewoo, he didn't need to claim on his non-existent insurance.
25 years later, Old Daewoo has lots of riding experience in many countries, researches insurance thoroughly, and tries to make sure he has all his bases covered.
Later this year, 3 mates and I will return to Northern Thailand for a few weeks riding. I've been many times. (residents & citizens of Australia)
One thing I haven't been able to concur is 3rd party insurance. Rental Bikes in Thailand only have the compulsory 3rd Party Injury insurance which covers about $1000 in a public hospital.
No coverage for damage to the rental bike, no coverage for 3rd party property, no coverage for significant 3rd party injury.
Every travel insurance policy I have read specifically excludes this coverage.
Does anyone know of a company that sells this kind of insurance coverage, either as a full TI Policy, or additional policy?
