Hi guys,
Firstly, Spud, sorry not travelling same way as you. We are in Tunisia now travelling East in a 4x4. Would have replied to your e-mail but yahoo is down from here.
Seems there is quite a talk here. I know what you mean with the double indemnity, it is basically an insurance against the insurance. Basically what all insurance companies do.
Egypt is 500 percent as Pakistan and Iran when I enquired. This would have meant us guaranteeing GBP 40000 for the RAC if we could even get a Carnet for Egypt. It seems that they have now relaxed about Pakistan though.
We have had to give the ADAC about GBP 3000 but if the worst were to happen and the car was stolen and we had problems with Carnet, Im sure ADAC would come hunting.
Both AA and RAC have told me that Egypt have claimed even after Carnet stamped and vehicle left country, just be really careful I guess.
