Angolan visa in cape town july 2010

were travelling north after the world cup after coming through east africa over the last eight months. we need to be back in the uk in november.

we fond alot online about how hard it is to get the angolan visas in either direction. if anyone is heading north like us, then cape town is a possible to get a visa.

we haver the forms right in front of us and will submit once we have a invite letter once we book some cheap accomadation in luanda to get a letter

also needed

a letter of employment - if your overlnading then get this man in cape to to sort out a letter in portugese explaining the situation - sr menerges 0827100962

as for letter of invite, then we have tried sta travel in cape town how have hotels connected with the travel agents in angola, but left it as the hotel was too expensive and need to sort out something with another hotelin angola

alexandra at ther angolan embassy is very helpfull. make a meeting to see her by going into the embassy first.

we were told it takes 4-5 days to issue, note they only accept visas applications from mon-thursday. current price 750 rand, but up to 870 rand after other stamps etc

list of what's needed

1.letter if invitation ( pre booked accomadation in angola will provide this) can be faxed ot the emabssy in cape town on 0214254387 or 0214258705
2.copy of passport
3.copy of air ticket ( no need )
4.origina passport
5.letter of employment - get sr meneges on 0827100962 in central cape town to do this saying your overlanding and heading north etc. we haven't contacted him yet, so hope this works
6.2 colour photos , white background
7.yellow fever certificte, also they say proof of malaria medication? not sure, but worht taking something

if i can be of any more help , contact me on amiller1974@gmail.com

one other option we thought of was to ship from walvis bay /namibia to accra (tema, east of accra) in ghana,

we have had quotes from maersk in namibia for about £1400, almost as expensiv to ship a 4x4 to the uk, but maybe possible in the 20ft container with two vehicles. single flights with air namibia are £300 each to accra

shipping takes two weeks. no option to go with the ship as we asked, so you would have to get flights

anyone in cape town currently, looking to ship north , get in touch on the above email address, we are here till late the 20th july.

the journey continues!!!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
