Anyone airfreighted to Istanbul? Advice pls.

Hi.

We're planning to airfreight the bike from Kathmandu to Istanbul shortly and wondered whether anyone has experience of getting a bike through customs there. Getting the bike out of Kolkata airport was difficult, and it'd be good to know what Turkey's like.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks.

Matthew

If you send it by DHL. to our club address (or any Turkish Official Club),some customs formalities will be needed in istanbul and your crate will be received by us.Then DHL.İstanbul and Club will make the reporting to Turkish customs with you and your motocycle will be stamped on your passport page.We do this 10-15 times each year.

This is the mail of DHL.istanbul office where you can get the price from katmandu to istanbul by airfreight if they have a representative there.
You can give our name to Mr.Aydın.

If you choose this way, we will describe you how to make the crate.

It was boxed on the 20.rd of nov. and was received after jan.10 th. because
mr.kazuyoshi would be in Kyoto at that date and planned to visit some countries by air before going to his home.

But;
1-Sorry we dont take the responsibility and cant help other kind of deliveries
because crates are never at the promised place on the promised date by other delivery companies. (Mr.Andon still waiting for his motor in Pretoria as he choosed the delivery company himself.)

2-Authorised riders of our club available here until end of May.2 of us are already in south iran now on the way to china.
Trans Asia - Burak Galip Akkurt - Ismail Gumus

3-Between 22 april and 3 may, we are all busy with Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey organisation.

4-Three of us will start the Journey Capetown-İstanbul end of April, and the rest will be in the middle east countries and south turkey area for summer holidays until beginning of september.

To İstanbul or from İstanbul formalities are all the same.If we are here
when your crate reaches istanbul,we would like to meet you in our club garage party.May be we have an offroad weekend together in the forest
as we always do.

Best Wishes

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
