Best temporary 4x4 (modified) insurance for Europe en route to Africa?

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a week of 3rd party car insurance for a UK registered 4x4 with upgraded springs, snorkel etc to cover me whilst I drive through France and Spain en route to Morocco. Unfortunately most short term insurance providers don't cover cars with any modifications, and the one company I have got a quote from quoted £300 which seems ridiculous

Any advice from previous experience would be great!

Thanks

Callum

You don't say, but I presume you are in the U.K., that you are British, and that you probably have insurance already for the U.k.

If this is the case, your insurance policy will cover you third party throughout Europe. It is a legal requirement under EU legislation that all policies are valid throughout the Union minimum third party. Your insurance cert should tell you.

If the vehicle is not currently insured and you can get it insured in the U.K. you should automatically be covered min third party to drive it across France and Spain.

Check with your broker. if they say no, go to another broker.

thanks guys, I am British and I am owner of the vehicle. However it is not currently insured (I have had it SORN in our driveway). I don't want to take out a full years policy as i only need it for a week, and when trying to take out a weeks policy I am having the issue with modifications as above.
