Trailer
Hi
I have a LR Defender 90 and a 4x4 trailer which we have used to travel around most of Southern Africa.
With regard to your questions I would expect you would need to pay tax in your home country like any large purchase. You would need to own the trailer for at least 6 months and show that you have been out of your country for that period of time before you could bring the trailer in tax free.
Your trailer would need to be licensed each year while in South Africa.
You should be able to receive a VAT refund after you purchase the trailer. I'm not sure of the time frame for sending in the claim and having the trailer leave the RSA.
Not much information for you...hope it helps a little.
I have a question for you. You mentioned shipping you Landy back to Europe. Would you provide me with some details? Will it be ro-ro or container, which port to which port, costs, contact for company and person with whom you are dealing. email: crwaterhouse (at) yahoo (dot) com
Thanks
crw
