Canada/Alaska/Americas Paperwork for UK Bike & Rider
Can someone in the know please advise what paperwork for both myself and my bike I will need to ship my bike to Canada and then ride through Canada/Alaska/Canada/USA/Mexico/S.Americas being a UK resident with a UK registered bike?
Do I need tourist visas, special medical documention, personal and bike insurance, breakdown cover for the less remote areas...
Can I ride on my UK plates with the UK lights/indicators OK?
Many Thanks Folks.

I took my UK registered bike to Canada last year and used HC travel for just about everything. The bike went on the ro-ro ferry from Southampton to Halifax, just drop the bike off at the port and they ride it on and off the other end. Customs in Halifax couldn't be easier, I did it myself in about 5 minutes, took the paperwork to the port, paid the handling fee and collected the bike.
UK spec bike is fine with no mods needed as long as it is roadworthy, there is a link to motor insurance for Canada and the US on the HC site and medical insurance as well, cover for riding a big bike in North America is not cheap and theirs was as cheap as any but do shop around, there is little choice.
I don't think breakdown cover for remote areas is available but if you have a problem out there people are helpful, I did and they were.
Canadian visa on arrival and get an esta for the States before you go.

Sounds straightforward enough - I'll get in touch.
Cheers.
