So the bike is not registered now? If not then you need to get it registed.
Insurance? If you just go for the bare minimum then you get third party personal - think that is part of teh rego? Maybe not. You may want third party propterty to protect yourself form the roller owner you may hit. You may also like theft insurance.

Your questions are not clear - however rading between the lines ...
When youy rgister a bike in Canada or USA - don't they want to see the bike to check it for road worthness?!
UK duty: The person who sold you the bike would know if they paid the customs duty of importing the bike to the UK. Ask them. And try and get any paper work to indicate that it has been paid! Even a certified copy.
USA Duty: if you can prove that th ebike was previosly registed there then one would assume that any duty was paid back them. Best to write to them and get a written answer back - you can use that bit of paper when briging the bike back.

in us they do not need to see the bike to check for roadworthiness, however, they do want you to bring it in yearly for an inspection if you have a license plate for it.

Alberta Out of Province Inspection
Hey SteveACE,
In order to register a bike in Alberta that is from out of province you need to have an out of province inspection performed in Alberta by a licenced/certified by the government mechanic. Sounds like that would be tough to do if the bike is already in the UK. Grant has a good story about renewing the plates on his R80 and the government wanted him to come back with the bike to do that.
I would guess your best bet is to register and insure it in the UK.
