Do I actually require a carnet for my trip?
Hey guys,
So I'm planning my trip from Saudi Arabia back to the UK and I'm looking at the Carnet document, which I can actually get issued here in Saudi, but I'm wondering whether I'm actually going to require one?
My initial route was to go from Saudi to Egypt - where I would require one - but as there currently seem to be no ferry options to get from Egypt into Europe I am now looking elsewhere - namely Jordan and Israel then onwards into Europe.
Neither Jordan or Israel feature on the HU list of countries definitely requiring a carnet for entry into the country and from there I will be in Europe where I won't require one - If it makes a difference the bike will be on Saudi Arabian (Arabic font) plates, but I am planning on getting an International Driving Permit to translate my Saudi driving licence to accompany my British photo card licence.
Does anyone have any experience of travel through Jordan or Israel? Can anyone confirm/deny I'll need a carnet just for these countries?
Cheers in advance.
