EU bike insurance about to expire before I leave EU - best option please!?
I know that there are lots of threads on the Hubb about insurance but couldn't find one that mirrored my situation so apologies in advance.
My wife and I are both UK residents and are both riding UK registered bikes from London to Singapore. We're both travelling on our UK bike insurance (with MCE so no green card) and I was planning to buy insurance at the borders once outside of the EU. I knew my policy would end shortly after leaving the EU so wasn't too bothered but a mixture of delays and generally spending more time than planned in the EU (cutting it too fine, I know!) has meant that my insurance is going to end whilst in Croatia.
As far as I'm aware I can buy insurance at the border for Montenegro, Albania and Macedonia but what about Bulgaria and Turkey? I know that Bulgaria is in the EU so would have been included in my policy so can I just roll up to the border and buy insurance or do i need to get a new UK policy and cancel once I'm out of the EU?
My wife's policy document (still has 6 months on it) has small print on it saying it is "in place of a Green card" which I'm dubious about as it won't mean anything to a non-English speaking customs official..
If anyone can offer any advice I'd be grateful.
