EU license, where?

Hello HUBB

I have been following these forums for a month or two and finally decided to make an account.

I am trying to figure out where I should get my license. Preferably in EU or somewhere that doesnt require me to take a new test to get it converted to a EU license.

I am an EU-citizen of Denmark, but I don't live there and haven't for a while. I am not a resident of any country at the moment. I have a (danish) EU-license for 125cc, but would like to be allowed to drive something bigger.

Is it possible to get the license anywhere within the EU without living there for 6 months prior? Denmark doesn't count.

I must note that I am not just trying to get a license the cheaper and easier way than in Denmark. I have plenty of experience on the 125cc, and I wont mind paying for proper training on the bigger bikes.

confused ??

Welcome to the HUBB

I am slightly confused as to why you would want to make things more complicated than necessary ? I don't know of any benefit getting a moto license in a country which you are not a "citizen" - I am assuming you have a Danish passport, which if I'm not mistaken is part of the EU............ It's my understanding that all EU moto tests / licenses are fairly standard across the EU ( it change format a few years back in the UK for this reason)

There are very countries in the world, if any, that would not recognise a "FULL" Danish moto license.

If you are talking of a restricted "125" type license ( known as a cbt in the UK ) That will be different and you will probably not be able to ride Outside of your issuing country. Most countries will require a "FULL" license to use a moto on public roads. Crossing the Sahara may be Ok

I am a citizen of Denmark, which is in the EU, but I am trying not to live there for a year or two. It gets boring being in a small country all the time.

Licenses in the EU are standardized so it doesnt really matter where you get it. But in most countries you need to be a resident (not citizen) for at least six months to be able to take the test there. My question then is: Is there any country in the EU, or with some kind of license-agreement with the EU, where you dont need to be a resident for this long to get the license?

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
