Foreign bike ownership & international borders
Hi all, I'm in the early stages of planning a ride from Western Australia to the UK via S. Korea, Russia & Scandinavia. I think have the route sorted, but I'm after some advice on the paperwork
I'm in Australia as a temporary resident and have owned the bike for around 1 year. When I leave work, I will have a 28 day grace period to ride over east and get out of the country. From there on, I will be a British resident/citizen, travelling on a bike with West Australian registration.
Will this cause border problems?
Will this cause insurance problems in Russia S. Korea or Europe?
Would I need a carnet to travel through Europe (given that the bike is Australasian & I'm European)?
The plan is to import the bike into the UK once there, but I assume I should keep the bike registered in Australia until then?
Thanks (& sorry for the dumb questions)
