Getting a bond refund from Boomerang Carnets?
Hello all,
Last year we used Boomerang carnets to travel EU/Africa with our US-based car. Getting things set up took a long time, but we got it done. The car got back home in mid-October.
I mailed them the carnet back promptly, and was told to expect up to 30 days for the refund of my bond amount, which is several thousand dollars.
This has not appeared.
My numerous calls and emails have gotten me nowhere.
Emails have been consistently ignored. I have called to ask about my emails, only to be told that "I got that email, sorry, will reply today" -- to then get no reply.
Calls get me a pleasant person who cannot help me, who goes and gets a promise from the competent person who CAN help me to call me back. I have not been called back ever by any of these people.
It has now been 2 months since the return of their carnet, and I fear my only course of action is small claims in Indiana, which I'm hesitant to do, since they're a startup company and I'm sympathetic. That said, I am getting zero customer service, constantly blown off, and it is a loose end I would like tied up.
Each time I ask for a name of a responsible party for processing my refund, I am given a different name. I have received zero response from any of the different names I have been given.
Ideas? I can't tell if this is impending financial failure or just gross incompetence.
Thanks for any insight.
- Mike
