Green Card in Europe: trying to think out of the box
For almost a year, I've been getting my Green Card (for Land Rover) from TourInsure, Hamburg. The first month was 203 Euros, then 89 Euros a month. (Must be long and arduous toil, issuing that first month. I say that because I know that otherwise, they wouldn't charge or even think of charging 114 Euros more for the first month than for subsequent months.)
I've just heard that next month my green card will cost 203 Euros again "for the first month". (Yes, that will be written into their charging scheme / terms of business etc. so I know it must be fair, reasonable and fully justified, etc. etc.)
Since neither my details nor those of the vehicle have changed, I see their charge as a modern variation on banditry. (If I could be sure I wasn't going to get hurt, I'd prefer to be street-mugged by someone in need than be mugged by a company.) Right, had my rant, now looking for options.
I'm in Germany, quite near to Poland. I was wondering if I can get Green Card more cheaply at a Polish border crossing and use it for driving in Germany. From the time my current one runs out, I expect to be in Europe only three months more. After that I plan to buy insurance entering Turkey.
