Guatemala and Belize
Hello,
I know about Mexico requirements but not about Guatemala and Belize's.
I have a motorcycle with a lien on by BMW.
How do I get into those countries? What documents do I have to provide?

I suggest using the current vehicle registration rather than the title, as can be done in Mexico.

we were in those to countries just recently and used our Australian registration papers and purchased their insurance at the border crossings. No problems for us doing it that way.

belize question
i just joined so can not send a private message to david and cheryl laing, but would like to know about their (or anyone's) experiences riding in belize - i will be going there with my family for vacation in december so may have some time for riding - if not, would like to return solo to get to know the country better - scoping out countries with beaches to retire one day

Ambergris, Caye Cauker (both islands) and Placencia are the more developed beach areas. Just north of Corozal Town (close to the Mex border) are some nice places right on Bay of Chetumal.
The country really doesn't have that many roads. Cayo District is the most scenic with the Mayan Mtns, Mtn Pine Ridge, Caracol ruins, caves, etc. It's also cooler than along the coast. San Ignacio makes for a good base and is only a few hours from Tikal in Guatemala. Also, the women have more of an exotic look..

Search the Planning section. You really will not find more information elsewhere than there is on this site. BMW does not permit you to take a financed bike beyond northern Mexico and you need a letter of permission from them to do so. I don't know if you can get past the border without showing the title but I wouldn't want that worry.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
