Help needed-Los Angeles.
Hey Folks,
Am D-day minus 1 on my trip to south america and i've hit a problem.
The bike is en-route from Dublin to LAX, Im following it tomorrow morn(wed)and i've just received an email from the freight forwarder that tells me his american contact has decided that because the airway bill has not been consigned to him, and he will not be clearing customs for me, he will not help in any way to collect my crate, or bring it to their depot for re-assembly.
This leaves me in a bind, as Delta have flat refused to allow me do any reassembly on their premises. Although they have pointed out there is a restaurant parking lot across the way....but they wont help move the 400kg crate there for me....
If anyone has any ideas how to solve this one I'm very much all ears.
Any and all ideas/help sincerely appreciated.
Thanks,
James.

I would light a fire under your freight forwarder in Dublin to sort this out. I don't know your arrangement with him, but apparently, he dropped the ball.

Since I live in Colorado, I am sorry I can't help. If I understand your immediate need, it appears you need some kind of assistance to move the crate so that you can assemble your bike. As a BMW owner we have the "Anonymous" book of people who will assist across the USA. Harleys have the HOG club, and Honda has there own organizations of members who provide assistance. If you don't get a better suggestion, I would recommend that you call a bike shop that sells your type of bike, and see if they have a local group of volunteers who might help. Good luck.

I might be able to transport and provide an area for you to assemble your bike.

Hey Folks,
Apologies for not updating this...
Russell came through for me spectacularly..and I want to say a big thanks to him for his generosity and patience. Many thanks to everyone else too for the support, and offers of help/places to stay etc.
I got the bike from customs last week, the delay seems to have just been that....no reasons given, no problems with customs on the LA side. In and out in maybe 30-40 mins.
Met Russell, he brought the crate to his location, helped me put it back together, change the oil, fed me, entertained me with crazy stories of being lost and injured in Cambodia, offered advice and help and lifted my spirits more than he knows
You guys ROCK

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
