Help on VTE/CI visas in NKT or Dakar

I'm posting this on behalf of someone else.

They need a visa for the Cote d'Ivoire; better still they need a VTE ..

It seems that it's not possible to pick one up at any of the VTE Embassies in Conakry, unless someone can give me recent info that this isn't true - so does anyone know if you can get one in NKT or Dakar?

Or what the requirements are from the CI Embassy in NKT/Dakar? ie. a printed reservation or LOI or ??? In France it's simply a ticket & an address.

Thanks

Kira (x-posted on Sub-Saharan)

VTE Cote D'Ivoire

You can definately NOT get a VTE in the CDI Embassy in Dakar, we just tried today after spending the weekend waiting for them to open and no success. Will try in Bamako as we read here that is another option.

Unfortunately I can tell you now that the CI embassy in Bamako won't issue them either (a VTE that is!). If you're heading that way then go onto Ouaga & get one there (immigration shed about a km out of town on the road in from Bobo)

CI was yet again fantastic this year, if you need pointers .. do let me know, hope to be back there soon! If you are heading into CI from Mali then I know the Benin Embassy does VTE for 20,000CFA in Deux Plateau

Hi Kira,
Thanks for the reply, just received it after going to the CI Emb in Bamako to find that they alsoo don't do VTE as you say.
Unfortunately we won't be heading for CI, but will try Ouaga for the VTE.
Thanks again

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
