"Importing" spare tyres: problems?
Hi there,
Going from Europe to Cape Town I am taking knobbly tyres with me to southern Egypt where they will replace the road tyres.
Has anyone experiance with border crossing in the middel east and Egypt with a set of brand new spare tyres on the back?
An earlier question about this topic was not very clear in it 's answers. They where more assumptions.
Getting them registrated on the carnet is not an option since I will leave at least one country (e.g. Egypt) without them.
I consider them as spare parts, customs may consider them as imports on wich I will have to pay import taxes or bribe me through. Egypt has got a bad reputation on this subject.
There must be plenty of experiance on the HUBB I expect.
Any comments?
